Saalbach is a delightful village in the Glemmtal, located just 3 km from the cozy village of Hinterglemm. Together with Hinterglemm, the quieter village of Leogang, and the family-friendly area of Fieberbrunn, Saalbach forms the large Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn. This interconnected ski area is extremely versatile, offering a wide range of slopes in all levels of difficulty. As a result, the area is perfect for both beginner and experienced skiers.
The ski area around Saalbach has no less than 270 km of slopes. These are spread across the mountain ridges on both sides of the valley. With a cable car from Viehhofen, the ski area is also (partially) connected to Zell am See, giving you an additional 77 km of slopes on the Schmittenhöhe. As if that wasn’t enough, your ski pass in Saalbach gives you access to all the slopes in Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn as well as Zell am See-Kaprun. In total, that's 408 km of slopes. Pretty awesome!
In addition to the beautiful ski area, many ski enthusiasts choose Saalbach for its lively atmosphere. The village, like its neighboring village Hinterglemm, is known for its vibrant après-ski scene. The center of Saalbach, with its many bars and restaurants, has a cozy feel to it. Moreover, Saalbach is often the focal point of various winter events, such as Dutchweek or the 2025 Alpine Ski World Championship.
If you’re heading to Saalbach, you can be sure that everything is excellently arranged. The village is a true ski holiday paradise where nothing will be missing. Of course, you’ll find the usual facilities like bars, restaurants, clubs, (sports) shops, supermarkets, childcare, and ski schools. Additionally, there’s a fantastic snowpark at the Unterschwarzachlift in Hinterglemm, open every day. Here, you can also enjoy activities like ice skating, tennis, and snow tubing, where you slide down the slope in a tube.
