Situated next to a lake with several après-ski possibilities

Zell am See has a cosy centre with different kind of shops and restaurants. Small-scale events and activities are also regularly organized in the village.

From the village your ski pass gives you access to three cable-cars that lead to the Schmittenhöhe (2000 metres): at the border of the centre, from the Schmittental and from the area Schüttdorf. The ski area on the Schmittenhöhe has a total of 77 km of slopes.

The ski area of Zell am See/Kaprun consists of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and the Maiskogel family mountain in Kaprun, which are connected to the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. With the ski pass you also have access to the ski area of Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn, for a total of 408 km of slopes. These ski areas are not connected with each other, but from Zell am See you can reach the cabin lift within 15 minutes with the car, which gives you access to the versatile ski area of Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn with ca. 270 km of slopes.

A number of nights in the week slope nr. 6 in Zell am See will be lit, and will be open during the evenings offering a beautiful view over the romantic village of Zell am See.

Snowboarders will entertain themselves on the Schmittenhöhe, there is a snow park with twelve obstacles. Around Zell am See / Kaprun there are several trails for cross-country skiers. Hikers can walk over the Schmittenhöhe up to a height of 2000 metres. Some winters, when it has frozen enough, you can ice skate on lake Zeller See.

In Zell am See there are several après-ski possibilities. In the centre you will find Crazy Daisy and disco Pinzgauer Diele. At the mountain station of the Schmittenhöhebahn you will find the Schnaps-Hans Alm, which has a big sun terrace with regularly live music. Furthermore you will find in Zell am See a casino and an indoor swimming pool.
