The very heart of the Serre Chevalier ski area is just above Villeneuve and Chantemerle and with the cable-car and gondolas departing from the village you can reach the ski area. A plus is that in general there are no queues in front of the lifts.
In the small ski area above Chantemerle and Villeneuve you can find a snow park and for the excellent skiers there are some good off-piste that run through the woods. The biggest attraction in Chantemerle is the black Olympic piste, named after the Olympic Champion from 1995 - 1997 'Luc Alphand'. Other activities offered in this area and its surroundings are cross-country skiing, hiking, sledding and tours by snow scooter or dog sled.
