The Dolomites feature 12 different ski areas, connected via ski lifts and free ski buses. The region offers a total of 1200 km of ski slopes, accessible with only one ski card: the Dolomiti Superski, also known as SuperDolomites.
Those who choose the Dolomites for their winter sport holiday can ski from valley to valley, with 450 ski lifts, divided over 12 ski areas. The conditions of the area are close to perfect, situated at an altitude starting from 1500 metres up to 3269 metres.
Due to the location on the southern side of the Alps the region is one of the sunniest winter sport destinations of Europe. Furthermore, the area is almost completely snow-certain because of the modern snow cannons that have been placed over the past years.
The Dolomites are seen as one of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world. It is therefore that this area has been added to the UNESCO heritage list. About 250 million years ago the Dolomites arose from the Earth's crust and have been subject to change by the relentless effects of water, wind and ice. Many of the visitors are mesmerized by the jagged mountain peaks, steep mountains and beautiful colours that change throughout the day. During sunset, the peaks get a crimson colour that changes into violet when the night falls.
The ski area of Alta Badia covers about 130 km of slopes. The largest villages in this area are Corvara and Colfosco (also known as Kolfuschg). This area is suitable for the whole family with a wide offer in slopes for both beginners as advanced skiers and snowboarders. Moreover, there is a fun park and a ski run with a timer. Those who chose this area for the gastronomy can enjoy themselves with in one of the many mountain restaurants to rest and to enjoy some food and a drink. Alta Badia is perfect for cross-country skiers with 38 km of trails, prepared for both the classic and the skate-skiing technique.
