Saas-Fee (Saastal)

The authentic winter sports village Saas-Fee is located near the Matterhorn in Walllis and offers its own ski area covering 100 km of slopes. Together with Saas-Grund (25 km slopes) and Saas-Almagell (12 km slopes) they form the Saas-Fee ski region and is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in Switzerland. In order to access all the ski areas it is possible to buy a combined lift pass and to reach the different villages a free ski bus is available.


Surrounded by 13 giant mountains with a minimal altitude of 4000 meters, this ski area is an excellent base for each winter sport passionate. Moreover, both ski lovers as cross-country fanatics can enjoy themselves in this area as there are plenty of possibilities. At the border of Saas-Fee there are three ski tows from where several blue slopes will lead you back to the village. Moreover, also for the advanced skiers there is enough excitement offered through the red and black slopes and the glacier. All the slopes in this area end in the valley at the border of the village, which offers an amazing view while skiing down.

The offer in tour skiing, mogul slopes and snowboarding facilities is infinite, which makes it almost impossible to enjoy every single one of them. Around 40% of the guests in Saas-Fee is snowboarding, as the slopes offer the perfect characteristics for snowboarders and therefore also many well-known snowboarders are seen in Saas-Fee during summer to train. In 1996 a fun park was build, which offers a boarder cross including tunnels and ‘camel moguls’.

Besides skiing and snowboarding there are several other winter sport activities possible like the broad availability of hiking paths, the sledding runs, a 26 km long cross-country trail, ice-skating courts and in the region it is also possible to enjoy ice climbing, snow rafting, dog sledding, snow bowling and heli-skiing.
