Beautiful new apartment in Mallnitz

General description

Berghaus Wanderlust is situated in the cosy village of Mallnitz. The flat is ideally located between several ski resorts. For example, the valley station of the local Ankogel ski resort is around 4 kilometres away, offering approximately 12 kilometres of slopes. It’s always peaceful here, with stunning, challenging slopes as well as a children’s area featuring easy slopes with T-bar lifts. The two gondola lifts form the heart of the resort and reach an altitude of 2,650 metres. Mallnitz is also a paradise for freeriders.
The Mölltal Glacier is about half an hour’s drive away. Thanks to its guaranteed snow, this is a great destination for serious ski enthusiasts, with around 36 kilometres of slopes.
However, the most popular choice is Ski Amadé – Bad Gastein. Mallnitz station is a 5-minute walk from the house, and from there you’ll be at the gondola in 12 minutes. Here you’ll find 127 kilometres of slopes. In short, there are plenty of opportunities for a varied winter sports holiday.

Yet Mallnitz isn’t just about skiing. Many visitors fill their holidays with activities such as winter walking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing (on the toboggan run behind Wanderlust) and ice skating on the rink in the village.

In the cosy village of Mallnitz, you’ll find a supermarket, a few restaurants and cafés, a bakery and a swimming pool – perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes. The swimming pool also has a sauna where you can relax your muscles after all that hard work.

Bart and Marja from Berghaus Wanderlust organise a cosy three-course dinner for all guests a few times a week. You can also make use of the bread service or even have a full breakfast delivered, so you can start the day in a relaxed way. There’s a games cupboard with board games, a bookcase and an honesty bar. Here, you can help yourself to a drink and pay at the end of your stay. In addition, a campfire is regularly lit for roasting marshmallows – perfect for a cosy evening outdoors.
There’s also Wi-Fi and a communal ski storage room available. For electric cars, there’s a charging point (subject to a local charge).

You can, of course, easily reach Mallnitz by car. It’s worth noting that you can shorten your journey by 70 km if you take the car train from Bockstein. Does this sound like a faff? It isn’t! The train departs every hour, from 06:20 to 23:20. You don’t need to book a place in advance; you can buy your ticket as you board the train or online beforehand. The cost of the train journey in 2026 is €26 (online ticket: €21). PLEASE NOTE: the car train will be CLOSED from February to July 2027 due to tunnel renovation works. You can, of course, take a detour (+/- 90 km) via the A10 or the Felbertauern Tunnel. In both cases, you’ll have to pay an (additional) toll for the tunnels. Don’t forget to buy your vignette so you can use the motorways in Austria.

Cosy interior with a comfortable seating area and a lovely large dining table. Open kitchen with e.g. induction hob, oven, Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher.

Three bedrooms, one with a double bed and en-suite bathroom and one with a double bed. The third bedroom has a bunk bed and a trundle bed. Bathroom with shower and a separate toilet.
