Next to the ski school in Grossarl there is a wide practice area – ideal for beginners and children. The highest point of the ski area is the Kreuzkogel at an altitude of 2017 metres where you will find mainly red pistes. One of the favorite slopes here is the FIS run. On the other side of the mountain you can ski downhill to Dorfgastein where the blue and red slopes continue as red and black slopes. This side of the mountains is usually more visited.
The ski area of the Gasteinertal can be reached by bus from Dorfgastein – where the village of Bad Gastein is found (note: this ski area is not included in the ski pass of Grossarltal, however it is included in the ski pass of Ski Amade). It is recommended to spend some time in Bad Gastein with its many wellness facilities with e.g. thermal baths and its thermal mountain Heilstollen – within this mountain the temperatures rise up to 44 degrees Celsius!
For snowboarders there is a specialized snowboard school and they can also enjoy the challenging 90 metres long half pipe and the fun park. Hikers can enjoy the 35 km of paths that are available in the area an at the tourist office there is more information available on the different routes. For cross-country skiers the 10 km long trail through the valley is recommended which ends in the nature reserve of Hohe Tauern.
The ski pass of the Ski Amade (offerin acces to the entire region) is valid in Schladming-Dachstein, Salzburger Sportwelt, Grossarltal, Hochkonig and Gastein.
