Family-friendly and affordable winter sport village
Dorfgastein belongs to the ski area Grossarltal. It is a quiet, but cosy winter sport village and has remained its authentic character. Dorfgastein is a economical alternative to the well-known ski resorts Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein.
The cable-car Gipfelbahn Fulseck, leading to the ski area Dorfgastein-Grossartal (ca. 73 km of slopes), is situated just outside the village and can be reached with the ski bus. The Fulseckl (2033 m) is the highest point of the ski area and offers a stunning view over the rough mountain world. Around the top there are wide-ranged slopes with a clear view and those situated lower are smaller and surrounded by trees.
Dorfgastein is a family friendly village. At the ground station of the Gipfelbahn Fulseck a skischool with a kids playground ‘Gasti-Snowpark’ is situated. In the nearby located Bad Hofgastein (ca 8 km) and Bad Gastein (ca. 17 km) you can go sledding.
In the centre of Dorfgastein a supermarket, shops, restaurants and bars are found. The après-ski in the village is lively but not vivid. Those who prefer to relax after skiing can make use of the Solar bath with e.g. Thermal baths, a Turkish bath and several saunas. In the surrounding of Dorfgastein you can enjoy (snow shoeing)hiking and cross-country skiing.
