Flachau is a long, stretched-out winter sport village and is centrally located in the Salzburger Sportwelt. The ski area of Skischaukel Flachau-Wagrain-St. Johann is reached via three departing points in the village. In Flachau there is a ski bus available.
In the village of Flachau there are a number of activities available for skiers, snowboarders but also for cross-country skiers and hikers. Furthermore, at the bottom of the pistes there are good and lively après-ski facilities available.
The ski area of Flachau (Skischaukel Flachau-Wagrain-St. Johann) offers plenty of ski possibilities for skiers of all levels and there are several ski schools situated. Comfort is one of the most important aspects in Flachau and therefore a great investment is put in the lift systems - offering innovative and modern lifts in the area with minimal waiting lines.
There are two connected double trails available for cross-country skiers. From one trail, the Reitdof trail, with a length of 13 km you can reach the Tauern trail of 50 km, and there is an intermediate trail with a length of 13 km. In the surrounding area there is a network-trail of over 220 km.
Hikers can enjoy the ca. 40 km of paths that are situated in Flachau and its surrounding area. The majority of the tracks are part of the cross-country trails and it is an option to go hiking over a frozen waterfall.
