Winter sports destination with an extensive offer in facilities
St. Johann im Pongau is situated at an altitude of 600 metres at the border of the Salzburger Sportwelt. The destination is the largest of its region and is more of a city than a village. There are therefore a great number of bars, restaurants and shops situated here with facilities like a cinema and a concert hall. For some relaxing you can enjoy the public sauna, the solarium or a comforting massage.
Behind the church of St. Johann there is a chair lift departing to the Hahnbaum (1200 metres), from where a number of blue and red slopes lead (ca. 7 km). For more kilometres of slopes you can reach out to Alpendorf and explore the ski area Snow Space Salzburg (Wagrain and Flachau).
There is a ski bus departing from St. Johann towards the neighboring Alpendorf. Furthermore, there is a train station situated in St. Johann am Pongau.
