The idyllic Umhausen, situated at an altitude of 1036 metres, is the oldest village of the Ötztal and is known for its impressive waterfall – the largest in Austria. Umhausen has a comfortable and cosy atmosphere and there is a small ski area which is well-suitable for beginners and children (Niederthai, 4 km of pistes). For more pistes and excitement you can visit the ski area Oetz-Hochoets (39 km of pistes) at ca. 6 km from the village, or go to Sölden (144 km of pistes) at ca. 20 km. Umhausen offers peace and quiet and an enchanting landscape during hikes or cross-country tours. There are over 20 km of trails available, one snow-certain trail is found at an altitude of 1550 metres.
Furthermore, in the village the cultural Ötzi-dorf is situated, an archaeological park where the life circumstances of the pre-historic people is exhibited.
