In the French Savoie the lively village Valmeinier is situated. Valmeinier exists out of two parts, situated at different altitudes, Valmeinier 1500 and Valmeinier 1800. Together with Valloire they form the ski area Galibier-Thabor, with about 160 km of slopes. The ski areas of Valmeinier and Valloire are connected through a cable-car.
In the village you will find several restaurants, some bars, a cinema, supermarkets, various shops and ice-ranks. There is also a ski school available in Valmeinier with day care possibilities.
Other winter sport activities in Valmeinier and its surroundings are e.g. tobogganing, dog sledding, hiking and cross-country skiing; offering around 40 km of trails.
