Wintersport Le Grand Serre-Chevalier

The ski region of Le Grand Serre-Chevalier is found just behind the Col de Lautare and offers almost 250 km of pistes. In the ski region there are four villages located and thirteen smaller townships, which are all interconnected through ski busses and lifts. The four bigger villages of the ski region are:
1. Briançon (Serre Chevalier 1200)
2. Chantemerle (Serre Chevalier 1350)
3. Villeneuve la Salle (Serre Chevalier 1400)
4. Monêtier les Bains (Serre Chevalier 1500)
These four villages offer the fastest access points to the ski region of Le Grand Serre-Chevalier. The village Briançon is situated on the highest point of all France and is listed on the UNESCO World heritage list. Monêtier les Bains is an authentic Spa destination, known for its hot springs. The villages Villeneuve La Salle and Chantemerle are situated inbetween the above mentioned villages and form the heart of the ski region. Most lifts and pistes are also situated above these two villages. Villeneuve has an extensive ski area and the nicest slopes can be found above the Monêtier les Bains.
The ski region of Le Grand Serre-Chevalier is a beautiful, woody area counting over 300 sunny days pers year. However, it remains snow-sure and is suitable for skiers and snowboarders of each level. For some extra excitement there are many off-piste possibilities in the area, for the experienced skier.
In the ski region of Le Grand Serre-Chevalier there are several fun parks available and the largest park is found above Villeneuve and offers for each level challenging jumps and rails. There is another fun park located in Chantemerle.
Between the four villages there are several small villages situated, which are often situated at the cross-country trails. Between Villeneuve and Briançon the longest blue, red and black trails can be found and in total there is 45 km of trails in the area of Le Grand Serre-Chevalier. Hikers can enjoy themselves in the valley where marked paths are available and the cross-country trails are situated
