Hopfgarten is situated at the foot of the Hohe Salve ( (1892 m) and is directly connected to the ski region of SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental. From the village a cable-car departs to the top of the Hohe Salve and from here you can ski to the villages of Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Brixen im Thale. From the ski area you can also ski all the way back to the village of Hopfgarten – mostly via red slopes. Due to its location the pistes are often situated in the sun – Hopfgarten im Brixental is therefore also named ‘the sunniest municipality of the Kitzbüheler Alps’.
In the area you can enjoy next to skiing and snowboarding the hiking paths, the toboggan runs or you can me a tour on e.g. a horse sled. Moreover, there are plenty of cross-country possibilities with various trails and routes.
The heart of Hopfgarten has many small alleys and a beautiful barrok church with two towers. In the centre of the village there are a number of bars and restaurants. Furthermore, there are some shops, supermarkets, wellness facilities, a nursery, ski schools and an ice-rink.
