SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser exists out of several authentic, Austrian villages. The villages of Ellmau, Scheffau, Soll, Itter, Hopfgarten, Going and Brixen im Thale are connected to each other. Via Brixen im Thale you can even reach the village of Westendorf by cable-car, where you can enjoy the attached ski area.
In the village of Kelchsau there is another small ski area of 16 km of slopes situated. This area is well-suitable for children and beginners. This ski area is not connected to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental.
SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental has a total of 90 ski lifts and because of this the waiting lines in the region are minimal. The ski area is developing and improving every year. For example great investments are put into new artificial snow machines and improvements of existing ski lifts. The good old Hartkaiserbahn has been replaced with the modern 10-person cable-car, getting you from the valley up to the mountain top within 9 minutes. Brixen has the Jochbahn: the fastest 8-person chairlift in the world. This lift transports 8000 persons an hour!
The ski area offers a good balance between blue, red and black slopes. Aside from the many easy and somewhat harder slopes the true extreme skiers can find more challenging slope. Snowboarders can use the funparks in Ellmau (Kaiser Park) and Westendorf (Boarders Playground). These parks are suitable for snowboarders of each degree.
Furthermore there is almost no ski area with this much of restaurants and mountain huts at and next to the slopes at the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. You will be able to enjoy several typical Austrian dishes. Between the different ski stations there are buses shuttling.
In the area there are about 220 km of cross-country trails available. Moreover, there are a number of hiking paths as well, leading through the beautiful surroundings of the ski area. There are tobogganing runs available and also during the evenings it is possible to enjoy these. Other activities in this area are e.g. night skiing and paragliding.
