In the region of Salzburg, above the villages of Neukirchen and Bramberg am Wildkogel, the mountains of Wildkogel (2225 metres) and the Frühmesser (2235 metres) peak, forming the centre of the family friendly ski village of Wildkogel Ski Arena. This ski area covers 62 km of clear and gentle slopes, and is therefore very suitable for families, beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The Wildkogel Ski Arena is situated in the National Park of Hohe Tauern. Cross-country skiers can enjoy the 45 km of trails and both in Neukirchen as in Bramberg there are lit trails during the evenings. Moreover, hikers can make beautiful tours in this area and if you prefer some variation during you holiday you can make snow-shoe tours as well.
In the area is a 14 km long toboggan run situated, leading from an altitude of 2000 metres through the forest down to the valley of Bramberg. This is the longest lit toboggan run of the world and therefore worth a try! Those who truly enjoy it can easily reach the top via the Smaragsbahn for another run down. Furthermore, there is another natural sledding run leading down from the Wildkogelbahn. It is possible to rent a sleigh in Bramberg and in Neukirchen.
Other activities in the area are ice skating, horse sleighing, curling and enjoying the delicious local dishes!
