La Toussuire is a rustic and sunny village, situated in between the mountains. The village has a small ski area, and the pistes surround the area. Because the hills are quite gentle, this area is perfectly suit for families with children. For the more experienced skier there is a 17 km long and partly off-piste run from La Toussuire to the village Saint Jean de Maurienne, in the valley. For snowboarder there is a fun park situated at l'Ouillon.
The ski area of La Toussuire is connected to the ski are of Le Corbier through two ski lifts. Both ski areas are part of the Les Sybelles ski region, covering over 310 km of various slopes. In the centre of La Toussuire there are some intermediate cross-country trails located, connecting to one another. In total there is 25 km of trails available in the village. Hikings can also make use of these trails, but can also try the non-groomed paths to one of the small villages in the surroundings of La Toussuire.
Due to the affordable prices of La Toussuire the area is very loved by the younger generation and snowboarders. However, also families with children are also found in this village. In the centre you will find facilities e.g. restaurants, bars, several shops, supermarkets, day-care, ski schools, ice-ranks, bowling and a cinema. Other winter activities in the area and it surroundings are tobogganing, dog sledding or snow scooter tours.
