The snow-sure Kaprun, situated at an altitude of 786 metres, is known of the nearby situated mountain reservoir at the Seller See and the amazing glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn. There are two ski areas situated in Kaprun, the family ski area the Maiskogel with 20 km of pistes and the Kitzstein horn glacier, ca. 10 minutes away from the centre by car and over 40 km of slopes. There is a good connection between both areas by ski bus. It is also an option to reach the ski area of Zell am See by ski bus – offering another 77 km of pistes and accessible with the same ski pass. From winter 2019/2020 there is one ski pass for the ski areas of Zell am See/Kaprun and Saalback/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn, for a total of 408 km of slopes.
The cosy centre of Kaprun offers plenty of places to go out, like bars, restaurants and discotheques with great après-ski. There is a large wellness centre located in Kaprun with several saunas, a solarium, a massage centre and an indoor pool – offering some variety on the daily skiing activities.
There are a number of hiking paths that start in Kaprun and lead through the beautiful and woody surroundings. In Kaprun is also an ice rink and plenty of other activities that make this village the perfect winter sport destination.
