Aschau im Zillertal is a small, idyllic village and is part of the municipality Zillertal-Mitte. The village is situated between Zell am Ziller and Kaltenbach, both at ca. 4 km. The largest part of the village is found at the river ‘Ziller’ and the mountain on the west side of the valley.
By free ski bus there are a number of winter sport destinations of the Zillertal easily accessible. The ski lifts of Kaltenbach offer access to the Hochfugen-Hochzillertal area and from Zell am Ziller you can ski in the ski region of the Zillertal Arena. From the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal ski area there is a valley run (= ski route, only for very experienced skiers) that runs into the village of Aschau.
In the village of Aschau you can find a supermarket, several bars/restaurants and a ski rental shop. Ski schools and other facilities can be found in Kaltenbach and Zell am Ziller.
