Popular, sunny and snow-certain ski area in the well-known Dolomites

The Dolomites exists of 12 ski areas, interlinked by lifts and free ski busses. All together it has 1200 km of prepared slopes, and you only need one lift pass: the Dolomiti Superski, also called the Superdolomites.

Because of its location on the south side of the Alps, this is one of the sunniest winter sport destinations in Europe. The area can be called almost entirely snow-certain, because of the many modern artificial snow blowers which have been installed during the last couple of years.

The Dolomites are considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world. That is one of the reasons why the mountain area has recently been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The mountains arose from the earth crust about 250 million years ago and have ever since been subject to change due to the relentless effects of water, wind and ice. Many visitors have been enamored by the pointed peaks, steep mountain walls and beautiful colors that appear and change during the day. At sunset the mountain tops get a fiery red color that turns into violet at night.

The ski resort of Val Gardena is the most famous ski resort in the Dolomites and includes about 175 km of slopes. The three largest places in the area are St. Ulrich/Ortisei, Wolkenstein/Selva di Val Gardena and Santa Cristina. Beginner or advanced, Val Gardena includes challenging slopes for all abilities. Also snowboarders don't have to get bored. There are two funparks, a halfpipe and a boardercross. Also, Val Gardena has over 130 km of cross-country ski-tracks.

One part of the famous Sella Ronda leads through Val Gardena's ski area. Via the Sella Ronda the ski area of Val Gardena is also connected directly to the area of Arabba-Marmolada (60 km of slopes with the Marmolada glacier), Alta Badia (130 km of slopes) and Val di Fassa (120 km of pistes, known a.o. because of Canazei) with a total of about 485 km connected slopes! It is highly recommended to buy the Dolimiti SuperSkipas, so you'll be able to get to know the other ski areas as well.
