Alpe d'Huez has became renowned due to The Tour de France and the Winter Olympics of 1968. Moreover it has gained more popularity due to the new bike event Alpe d'HuZes. Alpe d'Huez is one of the larger winter sport areas of France and the 250 km of slopes offer many possibilities for advanced skiers and beginners. The highest point, Pic Blanc, is situated at an altitude of 3330 metres and offers several exhilarating descents, while there are beautiful plane blue and red slopes at the glaciers. There is a snowpark with a halfpipe for snowboarders at the Premier Tronçon slope and Freeriders can enjoy the amazing off-piste tracks.

Hikers will not be bored either, in fact, there are about 30 km of hiking paths. For the cross-country skiers there are over 50 km of trails, and they are mainly situated on plateaus without trees on an altitude of 2000 metres, which secures the changes on snow as well.
